About Mark Klinedinst

Throughout his life and career, emeritus professor and economist Mark Klinedinst has maintained involvement in an array of academic, professional, community-based, and personal endeavors. A two-time alumnus of the Cornell University Graduate School, Mark Klinedinst completed his M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics and began a lengthy tenure in the Department of Economics at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. Beginning as an Assistant Professor of Economics in 1986, Mark Klinedinst earned promotion to Associate Professor in 1992 and full Professor at USM in 1998, serving in a wide range of simultaneous administrative positions. Some of these positions included Chair of the Department of Economics; President of the American Association of University Professors, USM Chapter; and Director of the International Association for the Economics of Participation. Recognized for his research as well, Mark Klinedinst received numerous grants from such sources as the United States National Council for Eurasian and Eastern European Research, the William Davidson Institute (the University of Michigan Ross School of Business), and the Filene Research Institute during this period, leading to presentations at professional conferences and publication in numerous scholarly journals. In addition, Klinedinst has performed as a Reviewer for the Journal of Comparative Economics, the Industrial and Labor Relations Review, Economic Development Quarterly, the Journal of Insurance Issues and Practices, the Journal of Economics and Finance, and several other publications. Now Emeritus Professor of Economics at USM, Klinedinst devotes most of his efforts to research, with recent articles published in the Chinese Business review; the International Research Journal of Finance and Economics; and the Journal of Money, Investment, and Banking. ??

Noted for his service to the community, Mark Klinedinst has donated his time, energy, and resources to a wide range of organizations that promote education, environment, and local economies. Klinedinst serves as a member of the Boards of Directors for the Indian Springs Farmers Association and the International Association for the Economics of Participation. He has also volunteered with the Head Start Program, Students In Free Enterprise, Environmental Action, World Food Day, Habitat for Humanity International, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, and Parkway Heights? Environmental Stewardship program. During his free moments, Mark Klinedinst enjoys gardening, woodworking, surfing, and reading. He lives and works in Hattiesburg.
